The Beginning: Breaking the Cycle

This is the start of a long story of myself and my family, and I'm transcribing this using a really good tool called Superwhisper so that I don't have to type so much. I basically type for a living; I'm a programmer, and that is one of my big passions in life. My other passions include my family first, obviously, and I'm also a musician focusing on my guitar. I write my own songs, and I record them as well using Ableton. I also have a great producer friend, and we collaborate often.

Anyway, I digress. This story is going to be long, so it will be broken up into pieces, and I will put it on a blog for anyone wishing to read it. Hopefully, it can mean something to people reading it, as I know there are a lot of people out there in the world who have undergone the same kind of life I have experienced, growing up in my family where there was a kind of—call it a curse. A curse in my family has plagued the patriarchal line for decades, even centuries. I was the one to stop the cycle, and that's how I would like to start off this first blog post.

Just to give you an idea about what it's going to be about: it's about substance abuse, mainly alcohol. Alcohol is a killer. Okay. To be continued.
